Our 2010 schedule includes:

Ely Greenstone is Sponsoring a free Snow Carving Class for amateurs, taught by Mike Sinesio, on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010 at 1 p.m. in Whiteside Park. Participants are asked to bring garden and hand tools from home.

Sixth grade Washington School students in Nancy Olson and Myia Conro’s classes will soon have a special January art project, sponsored by Ely Greenstone Public Art.
First initiated in 2006 at the request of the PTO, for each project Greenstone hires an instructor and pays for supplies for the classes which supplement the school’s programming.
This year’s project is in textiles - Quilt Block Creations, taught by Linda Dally to the 38 students in the two classes. She will be assisted by Pat Doren, Janice Erickson, Betty Rhein and Mary Willits.
Classes will be held January 21-22 and 26 - 28, 2010, during Home Room.

The ongoing project: Honoring Ely’s Mining History - Miners Memorial Sculpture which has raised over $4,000 in donations so far. Work is continuing to find the names of men who died in the mines. The project is expected to take several years and will include grant writing.

Check back here for more information throughout the year. While Greenstone does not have a membership category, it does have a hard-working board and we treasure the continued support of the community!

Located at the end of the road in Ely, Minnesota, with the beauty of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW) as its border, Greenstone Public Art is promoting an arts community with public art to look at and original fine art for sale.
